1. Keep your phone away
This is perhaps the hardest thing to do. None of us want to doze off without scrolling through our Instagram or Facebook feeds. We promise ourselves that we won’t spend more than five minutes on it, but we fail miserably. As a result, we are up until the wee hours of the night. The next morning, anxiety and fatigue reign supreme. So, we suggest, keep your phone in the other room to sleep better.
2. De-stress
We all slog all-day long and get dog tired by the end of the day. The best way to de-stress is to jump into a hot shower right before hitting the bed. A hot water shower helps with blood circulation and eases the strain and body ache.
3. Aroma candles FTW!
Who doesn’t like the smell of lavender-, vanilla-, or lemongrass-infused candles or diffusers? Light some candles and fill the ambience with positivity, as it helps you prepare you for the next day. For those who don’t like the idea of aroma candles, keep air-purifying indoor plants to help you de-stress and promote healthy sleep.
4. Say NO to Netflix and TV after 10
Switch off all screens, especially that TV, after 10 pm. We all love to binge watch, but this habit destroys routines and makes a mess of our sleep cycles. So, take it easy and space out the episodes.
5. A lil’ honey will do you good
Ditch that cup of green tea for a change. Health- and weight-conscious peeps tend to sip green tea right after dinner or before they hit the bed. But it is time to ditch that habit. Instead, try honey and warm water. Warm water soothes the nerves and honey has amino-acid tryptophan which helps with a smooth and stress-free slumber.
