A cup of hot coffee first thing in the morning is one of the best feelings, no doubt. Yes, it does help us get out of the slumber, and make our minds alert. But just one cup is usually not enough to get us ready for the day ahead. Most of us either drink two or more to really get us going. But, how about replacing the second cup (because one cup of coffee a day is actually good for you) with an alternative that does a better job at waking you up? Because, that’s exactly what these six things do…
1. Hot Lemon Ginger Water
The hot water cleanses the body, and the tangy taste of this concoction is what gets our minds to wake up and take note. This, of course, is besides the many health benefits of consuming lemon and ginger in warm water first thing in the morning. Let this be the first thing you drink, and, who knows, you might not even want a single cup of coffee!
2. Cold Shower
Hot showers relax us, and cold showers wake us up. Many people who start their days early prefer cold showers for this very reason (even in the winter)! Plus, cold water is actually better for your hair.
3. Deep breaths
You can even do this in your bed while lying down. Open your eyes, and take a few deep breaths with the intention of invigorating your body.
4. Stretch
Again, another thing you can do in the warmth and comfort of your bed. Flip on your stomach, and do a few cat cows, or just push back into a child’s pose and take deep breaths. You will not want to go back to sleep.
5. Step outside
And no, you don’t have to leave the house. A balcony, or a window will suffice. The idea is to soak in the daylight.
6. Cardio
We can’t even begin to tell you why you should start your morning with some cardio. It is great for your health, and yes, blood pumping does wake you up.
